• Image of SHANGA JAR

A community group of Maasai women in Kenya’s Rift Valley work on this product by a lengthy process of beading around the jar, often taking two weeks to complete. We have twelve women working from their local community on this product. It enables them to manage their social and domestic issues as well as continuing to be the main breadwinners of the family. Although the product is challenging and time consuming to make the women are uplifted and excited by the uniqueness of the design. Once the beaded design is finished this simple functional jar is elevated to a fine object.
